Years later while working in law enforcement, the witness drove to a remote trailhead to pick up a fire-watcher ranger during a dry fall with active forest fires. Concerned when the ranger did not appear after dark, he walked up the trail with a flashlight and rifle and found the ranger hiding by a rock. Together they watched a tall, long-armed figure with large reflective eyes at the far edge of a clearing for an extended period before it crouched, raked grass, backed into the woods, and circled away crashing through brush. The ranger later said he had already encountered the same figure on the trail, where it screamed at him, caused him to drop his kit, and threw his bag, which was never recovered.

A work crew waiting on the roof of a house in early daylight watched a tall hairy figure come out of the basement and walk upright toward nearby trees. The figure then squatted about 40 yards away facing the crew without sound before standing, looking west, and vanishing within a few steps. An upright hair-covered figure emerged from tall grass, crossed the road in front of the vehicle headlights, and went down into tall grass on the other side and out of sight. As the vehicle passed through the path it had taken, the witness smelled a very strong musty and putrid odor.

A group of six people observed a large, brown, long-haired, foul-smelling animal for about 15 seconds in the morning. The animal walked quickly away without running and disappeared into a swampy wooded area when they tried to follow. The witness found footprints, made a cast of one and gave it to the state natural resources agency without receiving a response, and noted another print in stream clay. No vocalizations were heard and the encounter was described as not life-threatening.

They saw a very tall hair-covered creature standing by a hitching post that only reached its knees. The companion fled uphill while the witness watched the creature walk away with long smooth strides into the trees, hearing light rustling as it moved uphill.
