The witness and at least one other person parked on a dirt road near a stream at night. They heard sloshing in the water and later saw a large figure run across the road ahead of the headlights and heard heavy steps in sagebrush. Using a spotlight they glimpsed a tall dark primate-like figure cross in front of a large boulder and enter dense timber.

The witness was driving slowly on a rural road at night to bring awards to a scout campout when a hair-covered biped stepped over a fence into the road. She stopped close to it, stepped out behind her car door, and watched it for about a minute under her headlights while noting red glowing eyes and a musky odor and feeling calm. The biped then crossed the road, stepped over the opposite fence, paused to look back, and strode toward trees out of sight.

Two scouts walking on a gravel road in a pine forest at night smelled a foul odor and heard gravel being disturbed. They then saw a large, hairy silhouette run across the road and fled back to camp. When they told their scout leader, he laughed and sent them to bed.

On a moonlit night in summer 1970, the witness was on a road by a cornfield with a companion when a large brownish creature was heard and then seen running across the road, down a ditch, over a fence and into the cornfield. The creature had a foul smell. The witness returned the next day and found large smudged footprints in the road and cornfield.

The witness's grandfather stayed late fishing at the private lake after the owner left, then drove out alone down the gravel lane. His headlights revealed a huge black figure that jumped up and crossed the road into the woods with remarkable speed. The witness was riding in a pickup with a relative scouting timber in a steep mountainous area when a large hairy upright animal crossed the road in front of the truck. The animal came down one bank, crossed in a few fast strides, and went down the opposite slope out of sight while brush broke behind it. The relative stopped and got out with a rifle but could not relocate it.

In 1965 a family of five was driving on the Alaska Highway in the early evening when an upright hairy figure crossed the road directly in front of their pickup near Mile 91. The occupants in both the cab and the camper watched it cross quickly. They later stopped at a cafe where the father made a joking remark about what they had seen. A lingering egg-like smell was also noted in connection with the crossing.

After partying at a private lake, the guest drove out late and struck a two-foot hairy juvenile that ran into his car's headlight. A huge hairy creature jumped a fence and stood in the road, forcing her to brake hard within about 15 to 20 feet. They stared at each other for about a minute before it left down a wooded hill and disappeared. She then drove home and told her mother, whose silent nod suggested prior knowledge.

Driving near home by Norris Lake with her young son after an ER visit, a woman nearly hit a creature crossing the road that then stood at the front of the car while the boy pointed and said monster. She reported a rotten-egg skunk-like smell and prior signs it had looked in windows at the boy. She later moved to Knoxville feeling unsafe.

The witness was driving a van with a friend and two daughters through mountains in Tennessee at night. A tall hairy creature carrying a black trash bag stepped over a guardrail into the headlights and stood watching the van for 30 to 40 seconds. It then crossed the road in a few long steps, went over the far guardrail into the woods, leaving a putrid odor.

The witness was sitting on her patio at dusk when her dog growled and she heard loud footsteps. A tall upright creature stepped from behind a tree and stared at her from a short distance before four smaller individuals crossed the driveway on all fours and disappeared into the woods. She smelled strong body odor and later found only scuffs in the dry dirt.

After the prior road encounter, while driving on a remote Kansas road early in the morning with dim headlights, the witness saw something cross the road very low to the ground. It moved like a pouncing cat but appeared to army-crawl on tiptoes and fingertips, which struck him as unnatural. He considered turning around to look closer but decided not to.

Early one morning in 1972 or 1973 the witness rode with a relative toward a hunting area when headlights revealed an animal leaving an orchard and crossing the road on all fours. The animal turned its head toward the vehicle, showing teeth, then went into a ditch, stood upright and stepped over a fence before disappearing from view. The relative acknowledged an animal crossing but did not see the upright movement and later did not recall the event.
