After a late-night swim at a remote pond accessed by dirt road and foot trail, the witness and companion drove out. The witness saw two large dark silhouettes inside the tree line pacing the car at about thirty miles per hour. They diverged when the car reached pavement.

Rare sighting in RI by herpetology student
The witness went into the woods at night to look for reptiles and amphibians and noticed a rotten meat-like smell. While leaving, the witness heard loud ape-like screams that seemed to get closer, followed by crashes and snapping limbs, and fled to the car. While driving back, the headlights illuminated an upright hairy figure standing in the road that screamed again and ran into the woods.
