Over about four years the household noticed odd sounds, smells and disturbances around their wooded Texas property. They heard voice-like calls, hoots, growls and repeated wood knocks, found scat, stripped and snapped trees, and missing bait. A wide bare footprint with a deep heel was later found in a raised garden bed after crops were taken, though neither person ever saw an animal.

The witness and three relatives were hog hunting at night from two positions separated by several hundred yards. The witness was outside a residence near a wooded creek around midnight when loud whoops, heavy approaching footfalls, a mildew odor, and a howling dog were noticed. A tall dark man-shaped figure then appeared in a moonlit clearing in the creek bed about 30 yards away. The figure faced the witness briefly then moved out of the light into the woods, and the witness went back inside.

After resting on a bridge over a bayou, the guest felt watched and then sensed something following and flanking them to the right. She heard heavy bipedal steps and raspy breathing, experienced intense fear and silence in the woods, and hurried to the truck without ever seeing the source.

A couple walking on a gated two-track trail near the Trinity River at dusk claimed a rusty-red upright figure about six feet tall leapt across the trail about 40 yards ahead and disappeared into the woods in under a second. They ran to the crossing point and reported hearing it continue running through the woods, flushing birds, and the primary witness smelled a strong musky odor. They found no tracks but noted a clump of freshly uprooted trees nearby.

The witness, an infantry sergeant, led a three-person overnight guard of an ammunition holding area in northern Fort Hood. After a chem light disappeared, the woods fell silent and alternated quiet sides, followed by a loud thunk, a cold spot, approaching two-legged footsteps that produced no silhouette, movement into a thicket, and a very large rock striking the ground. The presence appeared to circle the position for about two hours until moonrise restored normal night sounds, and bait set for coyotes remained untouched by morning.

The witness was walking alone on an old logging road into the forest when he noticed a dark, robust, hairy being crouched in thick brush watching him. After hearing large movement behind him, the witness retreated to the trail and watched the first being stand upright and stare, as a second much larger dark being appeared beside it before he ran home.

After hearing tree breaks, movement, strange noises and heavy footsteps, the witness saw a large red bipedal animal walk along the road. The witness, then 15, was hunting with his father on remote public land in East Texas. On the final evening he heard a loud knock then prolonged screaming directed at him and footsteps circling behind him. Four people settling to sleep at a deer hunting camp heard a deep grunting animal shuffling behind a tent. Two of them got up with rifles and lights to investigate, and the animal left quickly while grunting and breaking through brush. They never saw the animal and found no tracks the next morning.

After his stepfather died, the witness returned to the family land in East Texas to look for trees where money and papers had been hidden. Near the area of a childhood sighting he smelled the same strong pungent odor and heard heavy, widely spaced footsteps moving through overgrown brush. He froze and backed away as the steps receded, feeling the impacts and hearing vegetation being broken aside, sensing other watchers but no aggression and feeling the creature remembered him.

He described it as a 6 to 7 foot tall, broad, stooped biped covered in dark brown hair.

The witness, then about 11, went with his father to a surveyor's home in deep East Texas and followed the surveyor's young son down a thin trail behind the house to a deadfall. The son gave whooping calls, after which the witness heard approaching footsteps, heavy breathing like a horse, a deep word-like vocalization and a powerful percussive sound, then breaking limbs. The witness fled back to the house as a tall dark figure ran alongside through the brush, stopping when he screamed for his father.

On Thursday night while three men sat by a vehicle, something crashed quickly through thick brush, flanked across the road and behind them. The witness followed the local guide into the treeline and a large log was thrown end-over-end toward them, hitting a tree. On leaving they found a log deliberately placed across the road where the thing had crossed and heard distant chatter and howls.

After dogs ran toward the woods and quickly returned, the witness saw a tall two-legged figure with broad shoulders and a round head walk behind the shed. He compared it to his brother and estimated about seven feet tall. Both he and his wife then heard heavy footsteps moving through leaves toward them, which stopped as they talked.
