The witness and a companion hiked into a remote swamp-surrounded ridge to survey snake habitat. While the companion stepped away, the witness heard bipedal footsteps and branch snaps from the swamp below and called out with no response. The witness then watched a dark upright figure move between trees for several seconds before it disappeared. Both left the area quickly.

The witness was stealth camping alone in woods near town. Late at night a powerful foul odor filled the tent, followed by bipedal footsteps circling the tent, breathing and sniffing at the tarp. While on a camping trip, the witness hiked off trail at night to set snares for food. He heard rustling and sounds of bipedal footsteps paralleling him and reported seeing a tall shadow behind a tree that vanished under direct light. A large branch landed near him, prompting him to fire a flare gun as a warning, after which something large crashed away through brush sounding like a heavy person running with long strides. He returned to find his companions asleep and did not report the incident until later.

The witness visited a pine forest site three times in the early morning. On the first visit he heard heavy footsteps retreating, smelled a skunk-like odor, and saw a rock thrown into water. On later visits he heard loud repeated calls and low moans, heard footsteps approach to within about 15 feet without seeing the source, had a large stick thrown near him, left food and recorded vocalizations, and noted indistinct footprints and large broken trees.

When the witness was 14, he camped alone in a forested area and noticed something in the brush paralleling him as he returned to camp near dark. The presence circled the camp and later approached the tent, producing an extremely loud scream followed by growls and chatter, then retreated after the frightened witness yelled back. The witness stayed awake all night, left at first light, and never saw what made the sounds.

The witness was hiking with companions through woods toward a familiar spring when they noticed a large dome-shaped structure woven from vegetation beside a water-filled fire cut, with a partially consumed deer carcass inside. Shortly after examining the carcass from across the cut, the group heard movement and saw a very tall, muscular, reddish-brown hair-covered being standing in the open about 30 to 40 feet away. The being emitted an extremely loud, escalating scream that the witness felt in the chest, then lunged toward the group. The group fled back along the trail without looking back until reaching near home, and did not report the event to family at the time.

Two teenagers exploring an abandoned creamery had the companion climb a ladder to the upper floor, where he reported a foul smell and hairy legs behind a box. Both then heard heavy running overhead with ceiling boards moving, and saw a large hairy figure break through a wall, cross a roof, and appear directly after loading doors blew open. They watched it run away through a cornfield for several seconds until it went over or through a fence and disappeared.
