Wood knock in Mississippi (2023)
While bow hunting on private family land, the guest heard repeated loud wood knocks all afternoon. Walking out after dark he heard a loud guttural growl, movement in brush, rapid chatter-like vocalizations, a human-like whistle on one side and a low hoof-like reply on the other. He walked quickly to meet his friend and left equipment to retrieve by truck.

The witness was deer hunting alone from an elevated stand off a power line in a state wildlife management area on a December afternoon. After hearing heavy breathing and movement, the witness observed a large black hairy human-like figure first on all fours then sitting and standing. The figure vocalized in gibberish-like speech, screamed, grunted, approached to about 30 yards and remained for an extended period before tearing vegetation and moving off. While the witness fled toward a truck, movement paralleled the witness in the woods while vocalizations continued behind, suggesting a second individual, and the witness fired a shot in the air before driving away.
Afternoon sighting by mother and daughter in Honey Island Swamp
Two witnesses taking a dog for exercise at the end of a swamp road noticed a large dark hairy torso-like shape beside a tree about 50-75 feet away and watched it shift for a few minutes. After driving to two other spots up the road, they heard footsteps approaching and then something running toward them through the woods, which frightened the dog. They left the area and returned later that afternoon, but the shape was gone.
Young couple encounter a rancid smell
The witness and his wife drove a short distance from a relative's home to their trailer to pick up diapers for their baby. At the house they found their penned hounds barking unusually and noticed a strong rancid odor at the back of the house. They collected the diapers and left without further investigation that night. The following evening they heard a television news account of a nearby sighting that also mentioned a rotting-meat smell.

The driver broke down on a rainy highway and was working in the back of a tall cargo van. A snorting sound came from outside, and a large hairy face appeared inches away in the open door. The creature vibrated the van with a loud growl, reacted to a pistol, then left. Lightning revealed two more figures nearby, and the driver fired and fled to town.
Vocalization near Collins, Mississippi
Two seasons before the main encounter, the witness got lost after dark in rainy conditions and followed a creek bed to exit. He walked close to unseen animals that scattered with unusual grunts, then heard what sounded like several two-legged walkers flanking him on both banks before they stopped behind him. At the time he told others it was hogs, but later concluded it was a group of creatures watching him.
