The witness and two companions entered the woods after dark to recover a deer shot earlier from a tree stand. While preparing to photograph the deer, the group heard an extremely loud scream from very close range, followed by the sound of something large crashing away through the woods toward a swamp. They saw nothing when they shone lights into the woods and quickly left with the deer without field-dressing it.

The witness stopped to rest while mountain biking and noticed a cluster of large barefoot-like footprints off the trail, which she photographed for scale. Late at night the witness was driving home on a dirt road while on the phone. A tall hairy biped ran from right to left across the road and was struck by the left front bumper, cracking it, but continued without slowing. The witness turned back and found nothing at the scene except a strong foul odor. She described the creature as much larger than an adult man, with short brownish-red hair, a large head and very long massive arms, without seeing its face.

While bow-hunting, the witness heard repeated loud knocks from nearby woods lasting many minutes, then later heard brush rustling moving toward an elk call. After repositioning along a road, the witness heard a final very loud knock from a large tree about 30 yards away and left the area as darkness fell. A hunting companion nearby reported hearing a couple of knocks.

The witness was driving east out of Fort Scott, Kansas into Missouri at about 4 a.m. when a hair-covered bipedal figure ran across the road in front of the headlights in two or three steps and disappeared into forest. The witness noted a brief bad smell just after passing the crossing spot.

The witness and a companion were on foot scouting hunting ground in daylight when the witness noticed a large reddish-brown figure moving in the timber nearby. The witness saw only from the mid-shoulders up for a few seconds before turning toward the companion and looking back to find it gone. The companion did not see the figure but heard movement and footfalls, and a strong musky odor was noticed as the figure moved away.

A witness and a relative were carrying camping gear to canoes in the afternoon when they heard an extremely loud bellow followed by muffled talking-like sounds. The witness retrieved a shotgun and moved toward a river point while the relative watched from the canoes. The witness heard heavy footsteps and brush movement heading toward the rapids but saw nothing, and found dry crossing rocks with no splashing. He concluded whatever made the sounds must have leapt rock to rock to cross.

The witness and his wife were sitting by a campfire late at night drinking coffee when a strong sulfur-musty odor drifted into camp. A piece of wood then flew into camp and struck their trailer, and after the odor returned a rock was thrown into camp near them. The wife also heard distant screams that evening, and no other people were seen in the immediate area.

The witness and a companion were hiking back up a forested trail in the evening when they heard loud branch-breaking sounds, saw bushes sway, and smelled a strong garbage-like odor. The companion heard the sounds and smelled the odor but did not see the figure, and the pair quickly returned to their vehicle.

He looked toward the source and saw a creature kneeling like a person, which then stood, made eye contact for about 30 seconds, and ran through the woods. They could see nothing by flashlight from their vehicle. Shortly after, occupants of a passing car stopped and said a massive hairy figure had just run across the road in front of them.

Two people had been fishing at Caesar Creek Lake and were packing up after sundown when a growling/hissing sound came from the treeline. They shone a flashlight into the woods and saw green eyes, heard trees and brush thrashing as something moved, and smelled a strong scat-like stench. After watching about five minutes they gathered gear and walked back to the parking area feeling watched.

Early in the morning the witness stepped onto a second-story apartment balcony and turned on the light. She immediately heard a loud primate-like scream followed by woo-woo calls, which set a neighbor's dog barking. After several minutes she noticed a tree rustling, heard low grunts and footsteps along a privacy fence, and watched a very wide, hunched, ape-like shadow lumber along the fence line before two figures reportedly moved off together into the dark.

They braked as headlights lit it, and it stood to about eight feet, covered its face, then stepped over a fence post and ran toward the woods. Both occupants smelled a strong foul odor like garbage or a dead animal.

In the early afternoon the witness and companions were walking down an old logging road when they heard strange whistling, gurgling pig-like sounds and trees shaking nearby. The witness approached to about 30 feet and saw the back of a light beige, clean-haired figure with darker face and hands holding trees, which then struck trees, turned away, and ran off on all fours while whistling continued from across the road. Companions farther away heard the whistles, thuds and thrashing but did not see the figure.

The witness was driving home at night when the headlights illuminated a tall grayish-white upright figure starting to cross the highway. The witness stopped and watched it cross slowly from right to left, noting very long arms, a hunched posture, and a strong putrid odor through the open window. The figure glanced toward the vehicle and briefly raised an arm as if blocking the headlights before continuing across.

A couple camping alone in a state forestry heard large movements around camp all evening. Around 2 a.m. the husband saw a tall hair-covered biped beside their SUV and illuminated it before it ran past him over a gate into the woods. Later both heard knocks and rocks striking their tent for about an hour until a large rock tore the tent roof. Next morning they found partial prints and fresh bark damage before leaving.

The witness and a companion were in bed at a rented cabin late at night when their dogs became agitated and then unusually quiet. A companion heard heavy breathing just beside the front door in the dark and noticed a strong musky odor. After preparing a light, they found large wet footprints crossing the porch, and the dogs remained unsettled all night.

The light rapidly approached to within about 35 feet and hovered silently a few feet off the ground. After under a minute of observation, the companion retrieved a spotlight, and as soon as it was aimed the light vanished instantly. The witness checked the area the next day and found no marks or disturbance.
