Two companions watching lightning during a storm reportedly heard loud pig-like grunts and screams and noisy movement in dense brush. They also reported seeing red reflected eyes spaced a few inches apart. The animal was described as large, but its size could not be judged because of a steep slope, and no tracks or hair were found afterward.

They then smelled a very strong foul odor and heard unseen brush movement, followed by a second, closer howl. Both men fled through the brush and exited about half a mile from where they entered.
