The guest's grandparents noticed meat and vegetables disappearing from an outdoor wash house over several days. One night the family smelled a strong musky odor in the living room, and the grandmother saw a large hairy figure squatted outside a picture window. The guest's father chased it as it hopped yard fences, snapped a railroad-tie post, and disappeared over a hill. For about a week afterward the grandmother heard something tampering with the wash-house door at night.

Something large and heavy paced them on the other side of the fence, stopping when they stopped and moving when they moved.
