Odor near Pike County (1994)
For six to eight months an elderly farmer and his wife reported nightly tapping that followed them room to room, shadows outside windows, a barn door torn open, missing dog food and missing outdoor dogs, and a low voice whispering the indoor dog's name. The responding deputy initially suspected neighbors, moonshiners or a grow operation, but later found a large hand-like dent in the house and an 18-inch footprint in the creek that he cast. The cast was later reported to show dermal ridges and to be considered authentic east of the Mississippi.

The witness's mother got up at night and saw a large dark figure at her back patio door putting its hands over the glass as if trying to enter. After the witness drove up with headlights, the figure left over a steep ravine in one leap. The mother remained fearful and kept doors locked.

A woman woke feeling watched and saw a tall being bent down peering through her high window. It moved to her daughter's side of the house where a huge shadow was seen, accompanied by a terrible lingering smell.

A former military man stayed alone in a remote cabin without utilities near Snohomish to get away from people. Over months he heard creatures around the cabin, heard Jabba-like laughing, saw them while fishing and looking in windows, smelled sulfur, and saw one vanish and reappear. After a night of multiple individuals banging on the walls and vocalizing, he packed up and never returned.

A family experienced repeated nighttime visits over a two-year period from large upright creatures around their home. The creatures stole stored meat, produced a strong odor, vocalized from nearby hills, and attempted to enter the house. The father confronted and shot at one, and family members later fired from the porch toward vocalizations on the hill.

The witness's parent reported sitting fearfully with a rifle inside a locked pickup shell topper while the same kind of creature tried to enter and smelled very badly.

Area residents report hearing nighttime movement, knocks on walls, and vocalizations, mainly in spring and summer but year-round up river.
