While bow hunting in September on a skidder road toward the hills, the caller repeatedly smelled a strong odor on the wind that came and went. He looked for a dead animal but found nothing and felt hair rise on his neck.

While the caller sat in a ground blind and his friend sat nearby, a loud deep monkey-like or owl-like sound came from about 80 yards behind and moved 20 yards at a time. It sounded close and perfectly enunciated with no person visible. Another hunter nearby heard similar whistles moving toward him and left with his pistol.

At about age 10 the caller rode up to find his mother and sisters watching cows backed into a barn. Something unseen in thick maple trees at the tree line shook the trees hard. He later interpreted it as the locally known rock quarry monster.

The witness was alone fishing from a boat on a lake in the afternoon. About twenty yards away on the bank the witness saw a black upright figure trying to hide its face and move away. It slipped through brush silently, ran up a hill, and made loud branch-breaking sounds that frightened the witness, who waited at the ramp before leaving.

While driving a dirt shortcut the witness saw a brown blur cross the road. Immediately after, the fresh front half of a fawn lay in the road with chest contents missing and a clean break. The witness could not identify the blur and wondered about an unknown predator.

While scouting a reputed haunted road the witness saw a brown figure watching from brush and later found unexplained scratches on his shoulder. The next night during a Halloween broadcast the group saw moving shadows, heard talking, and recorded a white light hovering over the trail. A partner who approached the light reported being pushed backward.

On a winter solstice night the witness and a friend went to a reverent-feeling spot in the woods. They saw many red, white and blue flashes like fireflies around them. Several times they also saw dark outlines of figures standing between trees watching from about a hundred feet away.

After shouting a challenge he heard a loud crashing bluff, later finding snapped sticks. On the walk out they heard escorts, saw smooth-moving figures on a ridge, and saw a basketball-sized light crash with nothing found.

While checking a preserve for activity the group saw red and green softball-sized lights and a baseball-sized white light on the trail. When the partner walked to where the white light had been, the witness perceived a spinning vortex-like blur around him. The partner reported feeling warmer despite freezing temperatures.

The witness was walking an old mining trail near a mining claim when a foul odor and sudden silence caused intense fear. Something in low brush paralleled her as she moved toward the truck, stopping when she stopped. On the fourth stop a dark head peeked out and blinked before she fled to her husband at the mine.

The researcher was sitting in a truck with two companions near Mount St Helens when a bluff charge occurred. They heard pacing, a tree knock, heavy footsteps running toward and past the truck, then branches breaking as the animal walked away. No one was struck and activity stopped afterward.

More recently while in woods about a hundred yards behind his house with his girlfriend, the guest experienced something rush toward them and stop about twenty yards away. Immediately afterward something unseen began snapping baseball-sized limbs high in the trees while he felt a threatening presence. He told his girlfriend not to run and eased out of the area.

At about fourteen the guest was night-fishing with his father on phosphate-mine land when his father boated out to full traps and left him alone on the bank. He heard sticks breaking and louder thrashing, then saw movement in myrtle bushes and a tall tree shaking violently while a loud whoa-whoa vocalization sounded. He fled to the locked truck, and his father dismissed the sound as a cow.

At the current home, the witness regularly hears indistinct mumbling like distant talking near the fields around dusk, especially when corn is planted. With binoculars she sees things moving in and out of the tree line, and finds many footprints in the fields.
