Six youths walking along railroad tracks heard a loud guttural sound behind them and turned to see a tall hair-covered figure. The figure walked steadily across the tracks and down into swampy woods about 110 feet away without stopping. The group later went to where it entered the woods, noticed a strong rotten odor but found no tracks.

The witness, then about 13, was playing hide-and-seek at night behind a hall when he backed around a target box into something. He turned and saw a human-like figure a little over five feet tall covered in long hair, with a strong musky odor, then ran to tell the other children. While deer hunting and camped overnight, the witness and a companion heard a very loud yelling-like scream from nearby woods and followed the companion's dogs with rifles. In a flashlight beam they saw a bipedal figure handling the dogs, throwing one, which then turned toward them and fled into trees with crashing brush and a lingering odor. They left the area that night and heard the vocalization again from farther off while packing.

A teenager checking muskrat traps before school with a dog noticed the dog staying close and growling. On a steep bank the witness saw a tall hair-covered figure with a non-human face and a foul smell. The figure quickly walked and ran away across a field, stepping over a six-foot gate without touching it. The witness left without finding tracks because the ground was frozen and snow later covered the area.

Two relatives living on a farm reported a strong odor in their dairy barn followed by footprints in the barn lot leading toward dense forest. A few days later additional tracks were found near a creek and plaster casts were made. Inside the dark crib the witness heard heavy breathing and saw a huge hairy man-like creature standing over them staring, with a hog-pen-like smell. The witness was camping overnight with a large scout group near a lake when a large pot of food disappeared from camp. Throughout the night the group heard bushes thrashing, repeated tree knocks, and loud long whistles coming from different sides of the camp. Counselors kept everyone by the fire until daylight, when another scout group helped them leave and police were called but reportedly found nothing.

When the witness was 5 years old and camping with his parents in central Ohio, he became lost in the woods. He claims a large hairy female creature picked him up, carried him quickly through the forest, and left him in camp with a heavy branch on his legs where his parents later found him. He says his parents dismissed his account as imagination and he did not share it widely for decades.

As a young teenager bringing cows across a canal near dark, the diarist saw a large bear-like figure standing on hind feet by a sapling 600-700 feet away and felt intense chill. Cows were undisturbed and his father was unconcerned. Next morning with his friend [name withheld] he found a huge bare footprint in wet mud under the sapling, estimated 8.5-9 feet tall using [name withheld]'s height, and nearby found a stick-bed with a strong repulsive odor.

Morning daylight encounter with grouse hunter on Indian Island 45 km east of Fort Francis
The witness, then 14, was hunting grouse alone with a dog on overgrown trails in northern Ontario in the morning. After noticing a strong odor and the dog fleeing, a large upright hair-covered creature rose from tall grass nearby, looked briefly, and crossed the trail silently into brush. The witness froze, then ran back the way they came while hearing branches breaking as the creature moved away.
