Three people went into woods near Westport at night to try tree-knocking to elicit a response. After each of their three knocks they heard distinct return knocks from across the lake, first from the west and then from the east. They also heard movement in the treeline, a low growl heard by a companion, and three distant howls they judged unlike dog or coyote. They left after about 30 minutes.
Late afternoon encounter by hunters scouting for deer between Cadillac and Manton
The witness and two companions were scouting for deer season by a creek near a cedar swamp when they heard an unfamiliar low growl. After the witness threw stones toward the sound, they saw a dark upright shadow moving at the swamp edge and rocks were thrown back toward them. Hearing further growls and large branches breaking, the group left quickly for their vehicle.
Daylight encounter while hiking on the Tulalip Indian Reservation
The witness was hiking on a logging road after riding a bike when they heard a branch snap, brush crashing, and a loud strike like wood on wood. A rock was then thrown from bushes, and the witness saw a hand and a muscular, dark brown, approximately 6-foot figure facing away with a V-shaped tuft of hair on top. The witness shouted at the figure, which remained still facing away, then left the area the way they came.

The witness was falling asleep at home at night when outdoor dogs began barking unusually loudly. Three people spending the night in a trailer heard distant howling that grew closer and seemed to come from more than one direction, and they called back. Small stones were thrown toward them, and they heard stomping, grunting, knocking, movement in brush close by, and trees breaking. They retreated into a bedroom where screaming, walking, and contact with the outside of the trailer continued for about an hour while one of them looked through window blinds and was left frightened.

On Monday evening 5/14 around 9pm at a relative's riverbank house, the relative noticed a roughly 9- to 10-foot limb protruding from the ground that had not appeared in panoramic photos taken earlier that day. Over a period at a remote farm the witness repeatedly saw small white lights moving through low scrub forestry below a ridge road, traveling where people could not walk and following land contours, ranging from fist to basketball size. On the closest pass one basketball-sized ball came down the ridge within 10 to 15 meters as a phone died, arm hair stood up, and arms tingled before it passed by.

Two volunteers were feeding birds at a raptor center late at night when they heard something large moving in the woods beyond the cages. They followed sounds of heavy footsteps and snapping twigs along a walkway for about 30 minutes as it moved toward a reservoir inlet. Both reported seeing large red eyes during the pursuit but did not describe seeing a body.

In August 2010 the witness was home around 2 a.m. and smelled a very strong body odor. The witness's two dogs had refused to go outside earlier and stared at the window without barking. The witness got up to close the windows and reports never smelling anything like that before.

A second taller individual stood up in the brush showing chest and head, the witness rode about two and a half miles home, and family members dismissed the report as a bear.

After she yelled out the window, something screamed angrily and crashed west through the woods breaking branches, then screamed again farther away.
