A group of six hikers on the second day of a trek along Lion Creek found large footprints at a pressed-down nest site with a strong musty odor. After leaving the site they heard three tree knocks from shifting locations and sticks breaking. Follow-up documented nest size, track spacing and depth, and track photos.

In fall 2007 five young men walked into semi-dense woods at night and noticed a strong foul odor. Brush began shaking violently and with flashlights they saw broad shoulders moving through vegetation, then noticed something running down a hill and a large fallen tree that had been moved from its prior position. As they left the valley they again heard movement and saw a crouched figure shimmying through thick brush before fleeing the area frightened.

They heard cackling, yelping, growling and moaning sounds and found the trail blocked by a large uprooted stump with placed boulders and smashed trees. After hearing tree breaks, movement, strange noises and heavy footsteps, the witness saw a large red bipedal animal walk along the road. Three hunters camped in a river bottom over the opening weekend of bow season. Over several days and nights they reported heavy impacts, rustling, a skunk-like odor, red eyeshine, wood knocks, whistles, talk-like mumbling, a whoop-ending vocalization, and bent trees and branch structures. The most intense moment was a predawn episode with a deep guttural roar followed by a scream-like sound near camp. They left early after smelling the odor again near a plum thicket.

A family living in a rural wood-frame home reported repeated nighttime visits over several years by two large hair-covered bipeds, one larger and one smaller. The creatures were said to peer in windows, mimic an infant's sounds, produce a strong septic odor, throw heavy tanks, damage a vehicle, and leave hair on the house. Livestock on surrounding farms were found dead with intestines removed. After the father fired through a wall at one creature, only the smaller one was reportedly seen, and activity lessened after relatives guarded the house and a protective ritual was performed.
