Late night encounter at a farm near Crab Orchard
The witness and a companion parked in a neighbor's driveway at night while the companion went to check a nearby farm gate. The witness reported a strange smell and a growl-like noise from in front of the car, then turned on the headlights and saw a large long-haired figure with large eyes leaning on a gravel pile. They left the area, with the companion later saying something large ran toward the road.
Motorist has midnight road cross encounter.
Late at night while driving home over a river bridge with the convertible top down, the witness saw a large brown-haired being bent over in the lane apparently picking something up. As she slowed and moved to the other lane to pass, the being froze motionless and she was hit by an overpowering foul odor. She then accelerated home to tell her husband. The encounter happened around midnight about a quarter mile from her home.
Fisherman stalked at dawn near Ruidoso
The witness had been camping and fishing for several days and went upstream alone at first light. After feeling watched and noticing the woods go quiet, the witness saw brush and trees shaking but could not make out the source. Minutes later while heading back toward camp, the witness heard a guttural moan or cry from across the river and believed something followed downstream. The witness ran back to camp, injuring an ankle, and noted the behavior and sound differed from prior bear encounters.
Night time sighting of a white creature near Kelso
Late at night at a wooded residence, a child went outside to tend a car, heard strange vocalizations and saw a white figure, then ran inside. A young man then shone a flashlight toward the woods, saw a large white furry bipedal creature, fired a shot, and the creature stumbled then fled on two legs while others watched from the porch and trees were heard breaking.
Bear hunter has sighting while approaching bait site
The witness and a companion were resupplying a bear bait site on foot when they heard branches breaking upslope and saw a piece of tree fall. About 400 yards away on a ledge they saw a tall dark bipedal figure leaning against a broken tree. The witness watched it for 15-20 seconds before it stepped quickly into the treeline, and noticed a rancid odor near the bait site.
