The guest stepped outside at night and noticed a foul skunk-like odor. He then heard a whistle from one side of the property answered by another whistle from the other side. He thought the whistles sounded made with lips, not like a bird.

The witness and two relatives returned at night to a riverside berry area where relatives had felt watched the day before. After about ten minutes of quiet, they heard a loud bang like a shotgun, loud splashing near shore, and repeated very large rocks thrown into the water. After retreating uphill and pausing by the car, they heard a branch snap and rustling, and an unseen presence loudly mimicked the witness's whistle by vocalizing.
