Wife and husband find tracks, have afternoon sighting near Hellroaring Ridge
While driving in a gated area to bear hunt, the witness saw a tall black upright figure moving through saplings. On driving back through the same spot, the companion watched a similar tall black figure with wide shoulders and a rounded head for 15-20 seconds before it stepped behind a tree and vanished. Moments later the companion saw branches about seven feet high moving in a row as if something tall had run through.
Hikers find footprints, possible nest and hear wood knocks mid-day near Coolin
A group of six hikers on the second day of a trek along Lion Creek found large footprints at a pressed-down nest site with a strong musty odor. After leaving the site they heard three tree knocks from shifting locations and sticks breaking. Follow-up documented nest size, track spacing and depth, and track photos.
Logger and granddaughter have brief sighting in the Selkirk Mountains
The witness was riding in a pickup with a relative scouting timber in a steep mountainous area when a large hairy upright animal crossed the road in front of the truck. The animal came down one bank, crossed in a few fast strides, and went down the opposite slope out of sight while brush broke behind it. The relative stopped and got out with a rifle but could not relocate it.
