During summer 1965 the witness was exploring woods near military housing when he found very large barefoot prints in red clay leading into the trees. While on a trail he heard heavy bipedal footsteps that appeared to follow him, stopping when he stopped and rushing toward him, causing him to flee to the housing area. He returned with a friend and both heard the same following footsteps rush toward them before fleeing, with the friend reporting an indistinct large movement in the brush.

Late at night in 1963, the witness and four companions were hunting raccoons with dogs in a creek bottom south of Tyler, Texas. After the dogs treed something, the group illuminated a large reddish-furred animal in a pin oak that was howling and screaming while waving its arms and shaking limbs. After someone fired at it with a .22, it growled and the group fled with the dogs back to their vehicles.

At age 12 the guest and her older cousin went into thick woods near the family lake cabin to pick raspberries and became lost after filling buckets. While arguing about the way out, the guest saw a tall, lean, hairy man-like figure at very close range that studied her, moved its mouth, and held its hands out before looking toward the cousin. The figure then disappeared quickly, and the two children dumped their berries and ran out via a logging road to the grandmother's house, keeping the incident secret for years.

During a family stay at a remote lake cabin the witness's stringer of catfish was found cleaned and lined up. Exploring uphill along a stream he watched a small hairy human-like figure play in a dammed pool, smash crawdads together and eat them. The hikers were said to have written about strange lights in the sky on the night they died, and people in the surrounding area also reported objects. Other hikers about thirty miles away reported three strange orbs over the mountain, which weather observers also noted. One hiker was said to have photographed something in the sky.

Nine experienced student hikers camped on the slope of Dead Mountain during a certification trek and rushed out of their tent at night into severe cold in minimal clothing. Searchers later found the tent cut open with belongings inside and lines of footprints leading toward the woods. Five bodies were found between camp and forest and four more buried under deep snow in a ravine with severe fractures and missing soft tissue. Authorities attributed the deaths to an unknown compelling force and closed access to the area.

A teenager checking muskrat traps before school with a dog noticed the dog staying close and growling. On a steep bank the witness saw a tall hair-covered figure with a non-human face and a foul smell. The figure quickly walked and ran away across a field, stepping over a six-foot gate without touching it. The witness left without finding tracks because the ground was frozen and snow later covered the area.

The witness, then about 12, was hunting squirrels alone in the woods behind his childhood home. After crossing a creek bridge into thick regrowth he heard rhythmic leaf-rustling and pushed through brush to within a few feet of a very large cinnamon-brown hairy animal lying flat asleep. The witness hiked to a deserted mine on a mountain in the afternoon and encountered an upright hair-covered female creature at close range. The creature approached, squatted to strip and eat leaves, noticed the witness, vocalized, and walked away into timber, later appearing briefly on a distant ridge. The witness considered shooting it for science but refrained, then examined droppings and a bedding spot.

In childhood, the witness and a companion heard a thumping noise while playing and went to investigate. They saw a large hairy animal squatting nearby using pieces of firewood to dig in the ground. The animal stood up, bared its teeth silently, and walked toward them, causing them to flee into the companion's house.
