Across the river his cousin waved frantically, later saying a huge black animal the size of a buffalo had crept down the steep hill behind him. The two stared at each other for several minutes, and as the witness moved sideways downstream the creature moved between trees keeping watch, until the witness reached the companion; when they returned the creature was gone and no prints were found in dry sandy soil.

The witness and a relative parked a heavy flatbed truck in a wooded area to sleep for a few hours before fishing at dawn. Around 5 a.m. something shook the truck violently side to side several times, waking both occupants. They smelled a strong rancid odor, saw nothing in the darkness, and stayed in the cab until daylight before leaving without checking for tracks.

The coworkers thought it was a man in dark clothing, but the witness disagreed. A later visit to the clearing found no tracks because the ground was too grassy.
