The witness once saw the hairy backside of a large figure running into the hollows, and a friend who teased its speech and threw a rock was chased. A teacher and companions are said to have encountered a tall creature on at least six occasions near an old bridge in Cooke County, Texas. The witness and his wife returned in late January to a rock grotto where he had earlier found a possible bedding area. They found the bed intact but an old wagon moved from a ledge with drag marks in the rock. As they hiked out through a ravine, unseen actors on both ridges followed them for about an hour with knocks, whistles and other vocalizations, shaking and snapping saplings and throwing rocks until the pair reached the woods edge. Neither reported seeing anything.

During one late-night episode, one person looking out from a shelter saw a large shape briefly enter moonlight and then leave. The witness, then ten, was accompanying a relative on a deer hunt on Peavine Mountain when both heard a long siren-like call from a shadowed draw to the west. The call lasted 15-20 seconds and was repeated multiple times, seeming to move farther away. The relative dismissed it as a fire-tower siren and ended the outing, and they left without further incident.

In summer 1965 the witness, then a child, joined other children searching sand dunes above Lake Huron after two children reported a frightening encounter. The creature approached, squatted to strip and eat leaves, noticed the witness, vocalized, and walked away into timber, later appearing briefly on a distant ridge. The witness considered shooting it for science but refrained, then examined droppings and a bedding spot.
