Recollection of a road crossing at dusk while working as an MP on Fort Lewis
While driving in a truck at twilight, the witness and a companion watched a large upright furry figure cross the road in a few long strides and disappear into the trees at the road edge. After stopping and getting out, they heard movement ahead in the woods, then a loud scream, and ran back to the truck while wailing continued behind them. They agreed they had encountered a bigfoot and returned the next day to find broken limbs but no footprints.

Home alone on a fall Sunday afternoon the teenager heard a loud scream, then rode a bike to a flat edge with two dogs. Dogs growled and horses bunched together while a huge upright shaggy figure stood 300-400 yards away in a pasture facing the creek. She felt it would turn, dropped the bike and ran home.

As children the witness and his older brother were playing near an old cabin on their grandfather's property overlooking the river. The brother pointed out a large hair-covered figure standing by the water about 100 yards away. When the witness shouted, the figure turned, screamed loudly, and ran quickly along the tree line and disappeared. A neighbor rushed the boys inside, and the grandfather spoke with the neighbor in another language and kept the boys from returning to the river, saying the beings were passing through.

When the witness was 14, he camped alone in a forested area and noticed something in the brush paralleling him as he returned to camp near dark. The presence circled the camp and later approached the tent, producing an extremely loud scream followed by growls and chatter, then retreated after the frightened witness yelled back. The witness stayed awake all night, left at first light, and never saw what made the sounds.

The witness was bowhunting from a climbing tree stand at dusk when he heard extremely loud screams and heavy footsteps moving around his stand within 50 yards. Frightened, he jumped from the stand and retreated toward the road while the unseen source paralleled him and continued screaming. At the road his hunting companion was waiting on top of the vehicle, having also heard the vocalizations.

In 1979 the witness had moved ahead of a hiking group in the Adirondacks to watch beavers and was walking back to the main trail. Something flushed from thick brush ran diagonally toward the witness on the trail, pounding loudly and wailing like a woman screaming, and was seen partially as a fast, upright furry figure about four and a half feet tall. The witness initially assumed a bear cub but later doubted that because it ran upright for about 150 feet and the vocalization resembled sounds associated with Bigfoot reports.

One evening in September 1978 around 10:30 p.m., the witness and his wife were going to bed when something was noticed outside their bedroom window. After turning on the light, they reported seeing three bipedal creatures with widely spaced orange-rimmed eyes peering through the screen, one stooping to look in. Three children walking on a wooded footpath noticed a tall female-like figure with a smaller juvenile standing by a tree off to the side. The larger figure stared at them, gave off a dead-animal smell, stepped toward them, growled and bared its teeth after being pointed out. The group fled toward a residence while hearing branches breaking, prolonged howling and screaming, and trees being beaten.

The witness saw a large shaggy upright creature about 100 yards away running toward the river, which stopped, faced the witness, and gave a loud high-pitched scream described as roar-like. The witness and a companion walked near a gravesite picnic area at dusk and approached the outdoor toilets. The witness encountered a tall hair-covered figure beside the toilets that followed closely while bent on its front limbs with its rear raised. The witness fled to the car, after which the figure stood upright, vocalized loudly, and chased the vehicle a short distance before they drove away.

In July 1974 the witness and his older cousin were staying overnight in a relative's sitting room in southern Florida. Late at night under floodlights they watched a tall hairy biped outside the picture window scream, then walk around the property while they followed it from window to window. They saw it eat a watermelon with both hands and scoop water to drink before leaving on a wooded trail.

When the witness was about seven, the family found very large footprints on a Lake Superior beach. While leaving through the woods toward the car they heard loud screeching and something large jumping nearby without being seen. They left quickly in the car, with the witness feeling the source was too big to be people.

Late at night in 1963, the witness and four companions were hunting raccoons with dogs in a creek bottom south of Tyler, Texas. After the dogs treed something, the group illuminated a large reddish-furred animal in a pin oak that was howling and screaming while waving its arms and shaking limbs. After someone fired at it with a .22, it growled and the group fled with the dogs back to their vehicles.

The witness fled to the truck, met waiting officers, and returned with them to retrieve the companion, who had also heard the scream and seen deer flee. The group left the woods together without explanation for the sound.

The witness was deer hunting alone in a swamp in late November when he heard an unfamiliar loud scream to the north followed by a loud branch breaking. He became uneasy and walked out to his car while watching behind him. Near his car he noticed a broad, roughly 8-foot-tall bipedal form standing about 35 yards away behind dense cover, which he believed had followed him. He left with a handgun ready and avoided hunting the swamp for several years.
