He saw a large hairy creature with its head in the blind, which stood up and faced him for about 10-15 seconds. After a deep growl and handgun shots, they were confronted at the treeline by two large hairy figures that stomped, rocked, and threw branches. They slowly backed out while keeping the gun pointed, then heard a loud whinny-like shout as they left.

Late at night in 1963, the witness and four companions were hunting raccoons with dogs in a creek bottom south of Tyler, Texas. After the dogs treed something, the group illuminated a large reddish-furred animal in a pin oak that was howling and screaming while waving its arms and shaking limbs. After someone fired at it with a .22, it growled and the group fled with the dogs back to their vehicles.
