Sasquatch sighting near York, Pennsylvania
The guest, a delivery truck driver, was en route to a distribution center in York when he saw a large dark figure by a creek from a bridge. He stopped along with another driver to watch it, thinking it was a bear. The figure stood to about eight and a half feet, looked like a hairy human holding a dead goat or dog, grunted, slammed a fist into the water, then dropped to all fours and fled rapidly through water and woods. A state trooper who responded suggested a bear, which both witnesses rejected.

Long ago before horses, a thirty-foot giant attacked a small village at night, destroying lodges and swallowing several women whole. Eight men tracked him, dug a massive trench, lured him to trip into it, and buried him with rocks and earth until he suffocated. They cut open his belly to recover the women, and his grave is said to be a lone oblong butte.

While elk hunting, the witness and a companion made camp on a widened logging road at dusk. They heard movement in three spots around them, then a single extremely loud branch snap like a gunshot from about seven to eight feet up directly behind the witness. Both fled to the truck, where the companion loaded a rifle and insisted lights stay off, and the next morning the area was silent.

Years later the witness was camping at a ceremonial gathering on a reservation when he repeatedly felt watched going to the restroom at night. An older man walked him away from the fire toward the cook shack to look into the dark, where they both saw two massive shadowy upright shapes standing at the edge of camp watching. The older man said such beings are drawn to ceremonies to observe and protect, and they remained at a distance without approaching or making sound.

The witness, then a 10-year-old boy, was catching reptiles in a dry creek bed behind his grandparents' rural property when a tall slender ape-like female appeared across the creek with an infant. He crouched and pretended to eat vegetation to avoid provoking her while they observed each other for several minutes. A taller darker male then emerged, bared his teeth and displayed aggressively, and the female positioned herself between the male and the boy. Both creatures then left into the brush, and the boy ran home and told his grandmother, who said she believed him.

A press account told of a wild man living in a cave or deserted mine who raided farms for calves and sheep despite a cash reward. A hunter entered the cave alone with a knife and fought hand-to-hand for an hour, reporting a towering, long-haired, savage-faced creature with thin bony hands. The hunter escaped crawled out at midnight exhausted after being knocked unconscious.
