A large camping group found a hut-like structure made of snapped boughs and filmed it in detail. While examining the structure, a group member pointed out a distant figure moving along a ridge. He became aware of a pair of reflective eyes watching him from behind a bush about 70 feet away and watched them for over an hour as the fire died down until they disappeared. In the morning he found large foot-shaped flattened grass impressions leading to and from the spot behind the bush.

During a military alpine navigation exercise, the witness's squad stopped to rest at a stream and discovered large, deep footprints on a gravel bar and in soft soil. They measured the prints and stride with a tape measure and noticed occasional additional marks downstream before the trail ended. The witness was home watching a baseball game when a strange noise from the back porch prompted investigation with a pistol. The witness reported seeing a large dark upright shadow-like figure running toward the woods, firing shots, then seeing it again near an old stable and firing again without hitting it. Afterwards the witness found a porch freezer broken into with frozen food scattered, plus white hairs and ground impressions.

Two boys were walking their dog in the evening when they noticed a strong rotten-egg smell and saw a large hairy creature. The creature chased them across a field toward home, taking very large steps, and disappeared from view near railroad tracks and a highway. After reaching home they told a parent, who called law enforcement, and responding deputies searched the area.

A teacher and companions are said to have encountered a tall creature on at least six occasions near an old bridge in Cooke County, Texas. The encounters occurred at night from a vehicle, with the figure seen as a tall silhouette in headlights and heard making threatening noises while moving through brush. On one occasion the creature was described as bouncing a limb, whose height was measured the next day, and daytime searches reportedly found bones in the creek. Shots were allegedly fired at the creature without apparent effect.

They found the bed intact but an old wagon moved from a ledge with drag marks in the rock. As they hiked out through a ravine, unseen actors on both ridges followed them for about an hour with knocks, whistles and other vocalizations, shaking and snapping saplings and throwing rocks until the pair reached the woods edge. Neither reported seeing anything.

While the witness was at a truck, the witness noticed a dark head-and-shoulder shape repeatedly peeking from behind trees across the road in a derelict yard. After the witness waved, the shape began swaying fully into and out of the opening, and a next-day reenactment suggested it was about nine feet high.
