A couple driving home at night turned onto their rural street and saw a dark-haired ape-like animal in the headlights a few feet ahead. The animal avoided the lights and bounded quickly on its forelimbs in a gorilla-like manner across a neighbor's lawn before disappearing. Both adults observed the movement, though only the husband saw its fingered hands picking at the ground.

The husband heard brush movement across a ditch and then saw a hair-covered figure from the chest up watching them from 20 to 30 feet away.
