Vocalization near Pecos, New Mexico (2012)
Four young people camped by a river in the mountains. During the day they found a very fresh opened deer carcass, returned to find their camp meticulously rummaged including an animal-proof cooler, and found a nearby large tent camp abandoned and dusty. Around 3 a.m. a huge heavy presence breathed deeply, smelled of wet animal and strong body odor, moved around the tents while the forest went silent, terrifying them until sunrise when they packed and left without speaking.
Possible nighttime encounter by a couple camping in the Jemez Mountains
The witness and a companion were sleeping in their vehicle at a forest campsite. During the night they heard something rubbing against the vehicle, knocking items over, and rummaging around camp, including toppling chairs and a canopy. The companion, while lying down, reported seeing a tall black shape pass the window and leave away from roads. In the morning the chairs were overturned and the canopy was found upside down about 20 feet away, with otherwise little disturbance and no clear prints.
Mescalero Reservation resident sees silhouetted figure swaying at window, large footprints outside house
The witness was awake in a ground-floor bedroom late at night when she heard heavy breathing and something striking the outside wall. A large dark silhouette appeared at the closed bedroom window, swaying as if trying to see inside, and remained for several minutes despite the TV volume being raised. The next morning she and her daughter found large five-toed footprints in snow by the walkway.

The witness and relatives were sleeping in a tent at an abandoned family homesite. In darkness the witness heard bipedal footsteps approach, contact and scratch the rain cover and disturb stakes, then heard a second set of footsteps nearby and distant rock-clicking sounds. After triggering a vehicle alarm, a branch broke as something walked away. In the morning the witness found a footprint-like mark, lifted stakes, and bent trees.

The witness was staying with a companion in the living room of a relative's house late at night after a relative had reported a very tall figure outside. After hearing noises like objects being thrown in the dining room, the witness went to check and saw a large hand reach through the window, across a table, and take a bowl containing food. Those present were frightened and the witness called the conservation office, after which nothing further happened that night.
Possible night time sighting by a resident in the Carrizo neighborhood of Mescalero IR
After being awakened around 1 a.m. by barking dogs and loud screaming and hollering sounds that lasted about ten minutes and came closer, the witness looked out a window and saw a tall hairy man-like figure standing at another window looking in. The witness hid, then later saw the figure walking away into the dark carrying something. A sour body odor was noticed during the presence, and deer jerky hanging on the front porch was missing the next morning.
Numerous rocks thrown at elk hunters in deep forest near Tierra Amarilla
The witness, suffering back pain while elk hunting, crawled to a sunny clearing and rested against a low stump. For over an hour, softball-sized rocks were thrown from the treeline at intervals under a minute, striking trees about eight feet up and landing nearby, with no other noise. The witness radioed his brother, who arrived and jointly watched the rock-throwing continue for about 30 minutes. Afterward they searched toward the source but found no tracks due to rocky ground and saw no thrower.
Hunters experience powerfull knocks on camper and hear vocalizations outside Jicarilla Indian Reservation
During an evening at a deer-hunting camp, the group heard loud bangs on the side of their camper on two occasions but found no one outside. Later that night while around a campfire, all five heard prolonged screaming and moaning sounds coming from across an arroyo toward the foothills. Two members walked toward the sounds but saw nothing, and a search of the area the next day found nothing unusual.

A family keeping sheep in a dark corral found one animal dead with its head separated from its body one summer morning. Additional sheep went missing, including one taken the previous week. The researcher urged them to add lighting around livestock.

The young woman fled to tell her partner, who lit and threw a firecracker outside. The visitors said they heard the intruder run away.

A family on a ranch loses cattle, sheep and smaller animals through the summer, finding carcasses broken apart with bones and footprints. While checking cows they photographed a large black creature sitting on a hill ledge that was gone when they circled back.

A mother and daughter let 30 sheep and dogs into a canyon Saturday morning and later found them back at the house missing a ram, a sheep and a dog. Driving down they found the ram's skin ripped off with head nearby and body gone. They then watched a tall muscular silver-gray dog-headed figure with a fluffy tail stand, look at them, and walk around a dirt mound followed by a smaller similar figure on two legs before disappearing.

Years ago a woman reported that a tall hair-covered figure opened the door and walked into the house while she and her husband were home. Both were startled and it immediately darted back out. It was described as six and a half to seven feet, black, thin and human-like in the face.

A woman reported repeated scratch marks and wounds on her horse's back, leg and neck. In early June something bent poles and ripped new siding off the corral late at night while horses acted up and one fled to the field. No creature was directly seen.
