The witness was camping alone in a tall tent when something large approached at night. A tall shadow with broad shoulders was cast on the tent by an outside lantern. The visitor opened food containers, ate bread, growled, overturned a cooler and carried off meat before leaving toward the river where vocalizations were heard. Large footprints and teeth marks were found the following morning.

A large grey figure rushed toward them from the woods, prompting them to flee to the house. After waiting inside, they saw a large grey ape-like creature squatting in the field watching them, then retreated again. Overnight they heard commotion, and next morning found shredded torches, a belt torn with teeth marks, and dents in a parked car.

The guest and friends stayed midweek at a remote cabin near Osage Beach in August. At night the group had wood chunks and pebbles thrown at them and heard loud whooping, and companions heard splashing while night fishing. The next morning companions reported a hairy bear-like figure by fish guts, the woodpile was toppled, and a beaver dam was found destroyed with a pulled-apart carcass. While squirrel hunting along the creek the guest and his companion watched a five-foot ape-like creature wading and looking in the water, which approached his companion then left after clicking sounds were exchanged with another unseen individual.

As retold from her mother, an uncle fled a remote farmhouse with his family after a creature harassed them, then returned with another uncle to find the interior destroyed. In summer 1973 the witness and a companion boated to a steep forested hillside intending to climb it. Shortly after landing and starting to climb, rocks began falling from above through the trees, increasing from small to football-sized, forcing them to retreat to the boat. Rocks continued to fall in the water around them with one or two landing in the boat, and they saw no one throwing them.
Family members describe screaming and house smacking near Prairie Home
Five women staying overnight at a rural farmhouse heard loud piercing screams approaching from up a hill toward the house. A backlit tall, large-framed figure walking hunched over passed in front of the front picture windows and beat on the house, and a very hairy leg was seen when the front door was opened. The figure then went around the corner of the house and disappeared, leaving a burning skunk-like smell. Two men who had been away returned later and searched the large farm into the early morning without finding anything.

During a family stay at a remote lake cabin the witness's stringer of catfish was found cleaned and lined up. Exploring uphill along a stream he watched a small hairy human-like figure play in a dammed pool, smash crawdads together and eat them.
