Three people were inside a small cabin after scouting for bear season when they heard banging on the outside wall and later three bangs on the door. Each time they went outside they found no one there, but they noticed a strong foul odor. An apple and later a stick were thrown from over a rise behind the cabin while they were outside and loading their truck. They left believing no other people or vehicles were on the mountain.

On a summer night in 2008 the witness was night-fishing by a dam near family cabins when he heard rhythmic splashes crossing the shallow river about 100 feet away and felt intense fear, abandoning his gear to hide in a nearby cabin. Around the same night a relative sitting on a cabin deck smelled a strong death-like odor, heard movement on the stairs and under the cabin, and felt the cabin rock hard enough to knock a VCR and tape rack over. The two compared accounts the next morning on the drive home and concluded the cause was a bigfoot, keeping it to themselves.

The witness was canoeing alone on the river in the afternoon and had to pull out to drag the canoe around a log jam. On Saturday morning they began hearing very loud guttural scream-growls that seemed to warn them away from certain areas, including the path to the lake, and the sounds continued into Sunday. Overnight they heard cooking gear clanging and a heavy thump like logs dumped beside their trailer, but in the morning the gear was largely in place and no logs were found, and the companion also reported a strong putrid smell.

When the witness approached palmettos to check a noise, he saw eyes, heard a growl, and watched the creature stand to about nine feet tall.
