The witness, suffering back pain while elk hunting, crawled to a sunny clearing and rested against a low stump. For over an hour, softball-sized rocks were thrown from the treeline at intervals under a minute, striking trees about eight feet up and landing nearby, with no other noise. The witness radioed his brother, who arrived and jointly watched the rock-throwing continue for about 30 minutes. Afterward they searched toward the source but found no tracks due to rocky ground and saw no thrower.
Lifelong hunter and fisherman has possible vocalization experiences near Packwood
In November 1998 the witness and a companion were truck camping on a gravel overlook between two lakes to hunt elk. In the evening while sitting by a fire they heard a loud screaming howl from the treeline about 100 yards away that seemed to move closer. They also heard what sounded like logs or limbs being thrown toward them and spent the night in the truck cab.

His nested cook pots were then heard clanging and later found unnested and spread out. After finding a long hair on his backpack Velcro he broke camp and drove to Red Bluff.

Three college roommates hiked to the Thompson River to fish and camp overnight. After dark they repeatedly heard a childlike crying sound from a nearby ridge, had small river stones tossed into camp, and later heard loud knocks alternating with the cries. At daylight they hiked out, noticing concentrated scat and disturbed ground near oak trees, and concluded the activity was not from a person.

The witness was looking for rocks in a forested area in the early morning and returned to the parked car to find the windshield wipers flipped outward. The witness then noticed a dark crouched mass at the tree line first taken for a bear. After getting into the car and slamming the door, the witness saw the figure stand about 7-8 feet tall and run away over a rock mound, then drove away.

The witness took two young relatives camping overnight near an old logging road and storm-damaged trees. During the evening and night the group repeatedly heard unidentified noises and guttural patterned calls that seemed to get responses from farther away. In the morning the companions briefly saw something near bushes that froze then moved into shadow, and the group stopped after hearing a rock crash nearby. No footprints were found on the hard ground.
Possible approaches to a boat ramp on Kootenay Lake
The witness reports sleeping aboard a boat moored in a marina slip and repeatedly hearing a heavy visitor come down the metal access ramp late at night and walk across the floating docks, displacing the dock enough to rock the boat. The steps sound widely spaced and cover the ramp and dock sections unusually quickly. The pattern recurred at least once each summer holiday over several years, with a bucket of fish offal sometimes found emptied afterward and whoop-like vocalizations also heard.
Strange bellowing noises heard
Over several weeks the witness was repeatedly awakened at night by loud, drawn-out bellowing sounds that seemed to move and change in volume. A friend, the friend's spouse, and a relative also heard the sounds, and overturned garbage cans were found in the mornings. The sounds were first thought to be cows, deer, or a bear, but the witness later felt they resembled alleged Bigfoot recordings from Pennsylvania.

Three teenagers were fishing and cooling off in a creek when something crashed down the steep hillside, threw a rock between them and screamed and roared. They scrambled to the bank and saw a large hairy human-like creature at close range making a display, tearing up ground and showing its teeth. They fled, leaving all their gear, and never returned.

The two hunters arrived late and set up camp and a tree stand in darkness in a hollow bottom. One hunter returned alone to retrieve a phone and heard pacing footsteps, a very loud voice repeating a name, and a laugh, then saw a huge dark shape in tall weeds and fired twice before fleeing. Both hunters were then circled for hours by fast-moving unseen things that stayed out of flashlight range, threw out a poisoned hot dog that was quickly taken by something running on two legs that coughed like a person, and found the heavy welded stand ripped from the tree in the morning.

In morning light the hunters went back to the tree where the heavy welded stand had been installed the night before. The stand was torn from the tree with welds broken and the chain still attached, damage they felt would require a truck to cause. They could not explain how it was removed without climbing and unchaining it.

Later the same year, the witness was alone paddling a 17-foot canoe on the small lake late at night. Something large rose under the canoe and lifted it a foot or two out of the water, and he balanced on its ridged back for a few seconds and saw overlapping large scales in moonlight. It lowered him back down, and he paddled fast to the dock and did not experience it again despite many later trips.

The guest was deer hunting from a power line easement and was walking back to the truck in late afternoon when a baseball-sized rock hit his chest and a creature screamed and ran toward him. He dropped his rifle, reached the truck, and when the creature came over the truck bed within feet while screaming, he shot it with a pistol above the left eye. The creature screamed and fled through the woods, and as he drove away a soccer-ball-sized rock struck his truck.

The witness reported driving on a country road when a large creature crossed and stopped in front of the car. After the witness brightened the headlights, the creature approached, struck the car and leaned on the hood while screaming loudly. The witness reversed around it and drove away while still hearing it screaming in the distance.
Memory told of finding possible fresh tracks and pebbles thrown while hiking near Jasper
The witness and spouse were hiking uphill in heavy snow when they found about a dozen very fresh, large barefoot-like tracks crossing the slope. As they examined the tracks, nearby foliage shook as if an animal was present, and they felt sudden fear and decided to leave. While descending about 300 yards, small pebbles were repeatedly tossed at them from behind, striking the witness in the back without injury until they began to run.
Recollection of seeing a huge bipedal shadow while camping that steals food near Steelville
The witness was camping alone in a tall tent when something large approached at night. A tall shadow with broad shoulders was cast on the tent by an outside lantern. The visitor opened food containers, ate bread, growled, overturned a cooler and carried off meat before leaving toward the river where vocalizations were heard. Large footprints and teeth marks were found the following morning.
Campers have campsite visitor on two separate occasions near Campbellsburg
The witness and companions were camping on a hilltop overlooking a valley and creek. Late at night the witness heard heavy bipedal steps climb a steep slope, stop, then run into the forest, sounds the companions also heard. About two hours later the group heard a single very loud scream that briefly silenced forest sounds. Around 2 or 3 AM a companion awoke to see a large arm reaching through the van window for food, and food was found missing and spilled, with gouges seen on the slope the next morning.
Four footprints discovered ranging from 16 - 18 inches long
The witness and a coworker were doing slashing work in a dry logging block when the coworker said his safety helmet had been moved about 100 yards. The witness examined the helmet and saw no marks. Together they looked near where the helmet had been left and found about four large footprints in clay mossy ground.

Around midday the witness went to check on barking dogs in a pen behind the home. There he encountered a tall, hair-covered figure pulling at the pen wire, which turned to face him before fleeing toward the forest. A relative who ran outside also saw the figure running away. No physical evidence remained the next day after an overnight thunderstorm.
