At about 2 a.m. during a break in a storm, the witness heard something at the backyard wire fence and went outside armed with a relative. They heard footsteps and loud cracks first mistaken for gunfire and fired weapons toward the sound. The cracking was then recognized as wood splitting as a huge tree was pushed over, crashing down and shaking the house, after which the family heard loud footfalls running away.

Other household members and a neighbor also heard the sounds, and trash was disturbed, items knocked over, and apples went missing while dogs barked. Multiple large rocks were thrown toward the witness, with some hitting a tent set up near the road while the witness was inside. The witness left the area without ever seeing the source of the noises or rocks.
