Around 3:30 a.m. the witness stepped onto the back patio and saw a tall muscular figure walking through a neighbor's yard toward nearby trees. The figure struck the neighbor's above-ground pool with its hand as it passed. The witness went upstairs to watch from a window, after which something was thrown at the house and the witness stopped watching.

When the witness was about ten, a backyard motion light drew attention at the family farm late at night. The witness watched from a back bedroom through blinds as an animal pulled trash bags from cans and a burn barrel, scattering and rummaging through garbage. The main witness was sleeping in the front room of a remote lakeside cabin with a relative when she awoke at night to the porch screen door opening and footsteps. She watched a large, red-haired, bipedal figure pass three front windows and pause at the door to peer inside, bending down to look in. Frightened, she fled to sleep with her grandparents and did not speak of the incident for years.
