Daylight sighting by hunter near rural homes in the Wellsville Mountains
The witness sat on a slope glassing bedded deer during the mule deer hunt. A large black bipedal figure crashed through dense brush uphill, moving gracefully and quickly out of sight over a ridge. Despite prior experience with bears and mountain lions, the frightened witness loaded his rifle, backed away without turning, and drove off.
Camper describes possible stalking at a camp near Scare Canyon
A couple camped overnight near a stock pond and the wife stayed awake in the back of the truck with a frightened dog while her husband slept. She watched a very tall dark figure standing about 25 yards away for several minutes before it took several steps toward the pond on two legs and later disappeared. She reported no odor or other sounds besides the dog, and a morning search found no tracks.

While plowing snow in Logan Canyon in the early morning, the witness turned on bright plow lights and saw a large hairy biped in the road. The creature looked at the witness and continued walking across the road without breaking stride. The witness did not stop because of snowy conditions and found no tracks the next morning because fresh snow had covered them.
ATV riders descibe dusk encounter in the Monte Cristo Range
The witness and a relative were riding an ATV back toward camp at dusk when alerted to a figure nearby. About 50 feet away, a large dark upright figure walked parallel to them along an old fence line before turning into the woods and disappearing. The pair left quickly for camp and spent a sleepless night after the brief sighting.
Possible interacting vocalizations heard by hunter near Hyrum
The witness was hunting alone on a plateau ridge, using hand-made calls to attract elk and coyotes. Something vocalized in the distance and exchanged calls for about half an hour, with what sounded like three individuals approaching to about 30 yards below in cover but never emerging. Feeling uneasy and unsure what they were, the witness ran about a mile back toward the truck and later described the sounds as a mix of chimpanzee, loon and coyote.
Husband and wife recall daylight sighting while scouting for deer near Cave Spring off of Monte Cristo
In 1977 the witness and his family were camped in the Utah mountains a couple days before hunting season. While scouting with his wife in the afternoon, a reddish-brown creature about 7 to 8 feet tall stepped out about 20 yards away, watched them for about 10 seconds, and was gone when they looked again. That night after snowfall the witness heard something moving around the tent, and the next morning huge tracks were found circling the tent.
