The witness was walking alone on an ATV trail toward a hunting clearing in early morning darkness. A large upright animal crossed the trail in two strides, then moved quickly downhill as the witness illuminated it with a flashlight for a few seconds. The witness described a tall, muscular, dark-furred animal and then returned to the vehicle and left.
Possible knocking heard by husband and wife while camping on their gold claim in Fiddler Gulch
The witness and his wife camped at their claim in Fiddler Gulch over the weekend of June 15, 2008. On several mornings and evenings they heard the same paired cracking sound, like a branch striking a tree, with about two seconds between beats. There was little wind, and the wife suggested expanding or contracting burnt trees as a cause. An investigator later suggested the sounds could have been wood knocks, citing unusually tame deer lingering in camp at the same time.

A witness and a relative were camped at a shelter in a remote mountain meadow during a multi-day hiking trip. On the final morning both heard repeated very loud screeching, guttural, howl-like sounds from upslope lasting several minutes but could see no source. Both were shaken, ate quickly, left earlier than planned while checking behind them, and have not returned. The witness concluded the unknown sounds were made by a Sasquatch.

The witness and her daughter stopped at a park outside Cave Junction in winter and walked down to the river. The witness noticed a very large dark human-like figure wading in the river at a distance, appearing to look down and move toward them. After the figure looked up, the witness panicked, yelled to run, and they fled to the car and drove back toward town.

Looking out the window, the witness saw a large dark figure walking on two legs toward the trees and into shadows. The witness got a truck stuck in snow on the Sturgis Creek trail area and started walking down the road to find a phone. From behind near the trailhead area the witness heard very loud screaming and howling sounds echoing off the valley walls. The sound repeated about seven times and was described as ending abruptly rather than trailing off. The witness continued walking while watching behind, with a rifle safety off.

Late at night in July 2002 the witness was driving with a companion on Highway 199 through fire-affected forest when a large hair-covered biped entered the high beams and crossed in front of the vehicle. The witness described instinctual fear and accelerated away while the creature continued across to the trees without running. Both occupants expressed disbelief, and minutes later they passed firefighters who looked shocked.

A family hiking uphill toward a large tree smelled a strong pungent odor and heard a repeated whoa-like sound that grew louder. The adult who stepped off the trail to watch saw a very tall, dark-haired upright figure move between trees and look toward the family. The family continued uphill without further sound or sighting and later reported the encounter to park staff.

The witness was studying at home late at night when a tethered dog and nearby livestock became highly agitated. The witness went to the front door with a pistol and flashlight and saw a large figure crouched in tall grass outside a hot-wire fence. The figure then stood on two legs and ran bipedally along the fence while the witness tracked it briefly before retreating inside. A later search of the area found only disturbed grass and no footprints.

Two sisters sleeping in a tent trailer awoke early in the morning to scratching on the bottom, top and sides of their bunk. When they unzipped a window they smelled a strong foul odor and saw dark brown fur pressed against the mesh. They were awakened by loud, heavy bipedal footsteps circling the home on pine needles and remained in bed with a rifle out of fear. After a time the footsteps left, and the witness fell back asleep until morning without seeing what made them.

A 12-year-old waiting alone in a truck on a logging road noticed a foul odor and his dog became frightened. A tall dark-haired biped stepped into the open on a bank about 40 feet away, watched him for about 30 seconds while making grunting and mumbling sounds and tilting its head, then ran uphill. The boy fled on foot toward relatives.

In mid-summer 1975 the witness and a companion were at an isolated creek swimming hole. While washing hair in the water, the witness noticed a head watching from behind a fallen log, which then ducked out of view. Moments later the witness saw the head, shoulder, arm and upper torso of a very tall brownish hair-covered upright creature near scrub vegetation across the creek. Both people quickly left the water, and a later search of the hillside revealed nothing.
