Family hears whooping sounds while hiking Marys Peak
A family of five was hiking on a forest trail when they heard deep guttural whooping sounds nearby. The sounds alternated from different directions as if two individuals were communicating and continued intermittently for about 40 minutes while the group climbed. The adults kept the children in a tight group until they left the forest section and the sounds stopped.

Moments later a baseball-sized rock landed where the witness had just been standing, with no visible source. The pair then heard loud wood-on-wood impacts first ahead on the hill and then behind them, which they could not explain. Around midnight something large crashed through brush, rocks were thrown into camp, and loud screaming and growling occurred. The pair fled in their truck, leaving gear behind, and returned briefly at midday the next day to retrieve it.
