After two relatives reported a roadside figure, the witness joined them and an uncle in a van to spotlight nearby wheat fields the same night. They watched an apelike figure first on all fours that then sat for several minutes before standing on two legs, with two additional sets of eyeshine behind it. The group left to contact authorities, later noted a strong urine-like odor, received a distant bellowing reply to an imitated howl, and searched with a game warden until morning.

The witness and a companion were walking back toward their residence after hunting rabbits on the prairie outside Minot. The witness sensed they were being followed, looked back, and saw a tall, long-haired creature about 50 yards away that rose onto its hind feet and looked at them. As it started moving toward them the witness felt threatened, and both individuals ran away without looking back.
