Two campers hear loud vocalizations

Two companions were camping overnight in an old corn crib in August 1989 when they were awakened by a very loud growling and hollering sound from the woods. They heard the same sound again minutes later, louder and closer, unlike any coyote or owl they knew. They could see nothing in the darkness.
