A reddish, bulky bipedal animal stood, looked toward him, then walked quickly uphill out of sight. Two hikers about one half to one mile from camp saw an upright figure watching them from behind a large tree about thirty yards away. The figure swayed briefly then ran away on two legs and disappeared into darkness after about 200 feet. Two companions fishing at a mountain lake got off the trail in thick brush on a very dark stormy night and noticed bright green eyes watching them from well above ground level. The figure with the eyes followed them to the lakeshore and then to their truck, staying in the trees and staring without sound or movement even when they charged toward it yelling. They backed away slowly, freed their stuck truck, and drove home, telling no one for years.
