The witness and his teenage son were blacktail hunting on a gated logging road in the morning. The witness watched a tall jet-black figure with a cone-shaped head walk down a hill and cross the road about 80 to 100 yards ahead, while his son simultaneously saw a different brown-and-gray figure step behind a nearby maple tree. After waiting about 20 minutes they searched both spots for about an hour and found no tracks despite soft ground that held their own boot prints, then finished the hunt and checked again on the way out.
