In the 1980s the witness's friend was part of a work search for a missing man near Bumping Lake. After smelling a horrible odor and finding a ten-foot circle where leaves were swept into a pile with stolen human camp items underneath and a primitive uncontained fire in the center, her partner later watched a tall being that vanished when approached within fifty yards. After waiting, he saw it kneel at water, look back showing high Neanderthal-like brows, described as seven to nine feet tall with long black hair and animal-skin clothing, said to have been photographed on slide film.
