The witness was alone at a riverside base camp in the afternoon when she saw two dark, slender bipedal figures walking on the opposite river trail around a bend. When she reached the riverbank moments later they had vanished with no place to hide except a steep vegetated canyon wall. A radio check confirmed the hiking group had not passed anyone, and when group members later stood at the same spot they looked much smaller and bulkier than the figures.

Freshly broken mountain laurel limb about twenty feet up the steep slope near the sighting location, about 1.5 inches in diameter.
