The witness was driving the family van on a rainy morning detour around Mount Rainier after an overnight stay near Packwood. At a stop sign the group noticed a roadside elk, but only the witness and his daughter saw an enormous upright figure standing beside it. The figure strolled out of the brush, paused briefly, then returned to the trees within about five seconds. The other occupants saw only the elk, and no photo was taken.
