Hunter reports smell, grunting sound, limbs breaking
Account
The witness and a companion drove to a logged area to hunt deer and bear in heavy mist and fog, then separated. The witness walked down a deer trail toward a meadow near a creek, noticed a strong musky smell, and repeatedly heard limb-snapping and grunting nearby. Realizing the companion had returned to the vehicle, the witness became frightened, hurried back to the truck, and then perceived whatever made the sounds moving away uphill.
