The witness was walking his dog through dense woods on high ground in the Pine Barrens when his dog alerted near thick brush. He saw the back and top of a tall black hair-covered figure that fled rapidly through impenetrable brush, glancing back once before disappearing downhill. He waited in silence and later heard it moving away through the brush. He also noted freshly snapped saplings blocking a dead-end trail just before the sighting and a pair of fresh pine cones lying oddly in an open sand field on his way out.
