From the deck about one hundred yards out, the witness and his son watched a squalling fawn run across the trail without its mother. Minutes later a doe emerged from the same spot bucking, missing its entire right leg and shoulder with fresh tissue visible, then returned to cover. The fawn called until the next day and was not seen again.
