The witness was driving to collect her husband after he hit an alligator and disabled his car. As she slowed at sunrise to photograph the carcass, she noticed a dark figure about a block away moving away from the road into the woods. She first thought it was a ranch hand but later interpreted it as a possible Skunk Ape drawn to the roadkill.

An investigator spoke with the witness by phone, met the witness and a relative at the site, and later revisited the area but found no evidence after rain.
The witness drove by the location about six times and plans to return to search for prints and evidence.
