Account

On repeated hikes the guest and girlfriend looked for footprints and found dusty print-like marks including a smaller footprint. They also found an empty chicken-feed bag inside an enclosed circle of saplings, heard faint thumps like something jumping from a tree, saw hillside rocks shifted an inch or two, noted worn divots with squashed deadfall that looked like bedding, and once the dog refused to follow near a mine and walked home.
