Man recalls finding tracks in the snow near Gaston while hiking with a friend
Account
The witness and a companion were hiking old logging roads to a former mill pond in cold, snowy, high-elevation conditions. They noticed strange roughly 12-inch footprints in the snow that appeared to go around the pond and had an odd twist at the big toes. Doubting a human would be out in such weather, they became frightened for unknown reasons and left quickly.
