The witness and father drove far into a mountain valley to moose hunt, then continued on foot. The witness saw what looked like a moose rump but was actually a tall shoulder rolling behind a large spruce. The father, a combat veteran rarely scared, lowered his gun, said it was not a moose, and they backed out for a quarter mile. They never hunted that valley again.
