The witness was driving on private land at dusk after plowing fields when a large black hairy human-like creature crossed the road less than 20 feet ahead, moving from the river side while maintaining eye contact. It continued into thick woods where the witness could hear it moving. The witness concluded it had made large footprints he had found by the river earlier that summer.

Large footprints found near the river a few months before the crossing
The witness, relatives, and investigators visited the road-crossing location, described as secluded woods bordered by river and farmland.
After a lecture, an attorney told investigators that a caretaker on his land had seen a biped, which led investigators to contact the witness.
