While working as a teacher living alone on a remote station, the guest returned to find his water tank replaced and pigeons dead. Approaching midnight he heard something outside a solid brick farmhouse, then heavy bipedal footsteps creaking the wooden veranda boards approaching his window. He armed himself with kitchen knives, turned on lights and waited outside until other teachers arrived, when muddy footprints up onto and off the veranda were seen.
